Performance-First

Hospitality Concept

Marketing, Events & Community Manager

Position Summary

We are looking for an entrepreneurial, energetic, and hands-on Marketing, Events & Community Manager to grow HoAM's audience, partnerships, programming, events, and commercial opportunities.

The successful candidate will work closely alongside and report directly to the owner. They will help translate the HoAM vision into campaigns, partnerships, events, and daily guest experiences that produce measurable results.

This is not a traditional desk-based marketing role. The ideal candidate will be present within the business, comfortable working behind the counter, speaking with guests, attending events, and understanding HoAM through direct participation in its daily operation.

The role is commission-based, with earnings linked to qualifying revenue generated through events, private bookings, partnerships, sponsorships, corporate wellness opportunities, and other agreed commercial activity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the owner to develop and execute HoAM's marketing, events, partnerships, and community strategy.
  • Report directly to the owner on activity, performance, opportunities, challenges, and priorities.
  • Develop and manage HoAM's marketing, programming, partnerships, and events calendar.
  • Create campaigns that increase awareness, footfall, event attendance, customer loyalty, and revenue.
  • Clearly communicate HoAM's positioning around performance, recovery, and connection.
  • Develop daytime campaigns that support focus, work, training, functional nutrition, and specialty coffee.
  • Develop early-evening campaigns that support recovery, decompression, social connection, and HoAM's intentional alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks offer.
  • Plan and deliver performance workshops, athlete talks, recovery sessions, wellness activations, product launches, tastings, community gatherings, and private events.
  • Generate and convert enquiries for private hire, group bookings, corporate events, wellness activations, partnerships, and brand collaborations.
  • Build relationships with athletes, coaches, trainers, sports clubs, gyms, wellness practitioners, health-led brands, local businesses, and corporate partners.
  • Identify commercial opportunities that align with HoAM's performance-first identity.
  • Present event concepts, partnerships, budgets, and commercial proposals to the owner for approval.
  • Manage proposals, budgets, timelines, suppliers, guest lists, staffing requirements, and event delivery.
  • Create and maintain a content calendar across social media, email, digital, and in-store channels.
  • Coordinate photography, video, interviews, design assets, athlete features, and behind-the-scenes content.
  • Write promotional copy, event descriptions, newsletters, partnership proposals, and customer communications.
  • Maintain relationships with press, influencers, athletes, creators, collaborators, and community partners.
  • Track leads, proposals, bookings, revenue, audience growth, campaign performance, and commission-generating activity.
  • Provide the owner with concise, accurate, and transparent performance reports.
  • Ensure every campaign, partnership, and event supports HoAM's performance, recovery, and connection pillars.

Clear and Open Communication

Clear, transparent, and open communication is fundamental to success in this role.

Because the candidate will work directly with the owner, both parties must be able to communicate honestly, constructively, and without unnecessary barriers. The relationship should feel collaborative, direct, and built on mutual trust.

The right candidate will:

  • Communicate progress, challenges, opportunities, and concerns clearly.
  • Ask questions when instructions, priorities, or expectations are unclear.
  • Raise problems early rather than allowing them to become surprises.
  • Be honest about what is working, what is not working, and where support is needed.
  • Share ideas confidently, including ideas that challenge the current approach.
  • Receive feedback openly and respond without defensiveness.
  • Give constructive feedback to the owner when something could be improved.
  • Take responsibility for mistakes, communicate them quickly, and help find a solution.
  • Keep the owner informed without requiring constant follow-up.
  • Confirm decisions, responsibilities, actions, and deadlines.
  • Maintain an accurate and transparent record of leads, proposals, bookings, revenue, and commission.
  • Treat difficult conversations as a necessary part of building a successful working relationship.

The owner will provide clear direction, context, feedback, and access to the information needed to perform the role effectively. In return, the candidate is expected to communicate with the same level of openness and transparency.

There should be no culture of withholding information, avoiding difficult conversations, or allowing assumptions to replace clarity. Success will depend as much on communication and trust as it does on marketing, sales, partnerships, or event delivery.

Qualifications & Preferred Attributes

Essential

  • Working experience in marketing, events, partnerships, hospitality, community building, or business development.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate leads, develop relationships, and convert opportunities into revenue.
  • Strong specialty-coffee knowledge and practical barista or café experience, with confidence to work behind the bar and on the floor.
  • Strong event-planning and project-management skills, including experience selling private events, venue hire, sponsorships, partnerships, corporate wellness packages, or brand activations.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication, with a naturally open, honest, and transparent style.
  • Willingness to raise questions, concerns, and ideas directly with the owner; ability to receive and act on constructive feedback.
  • Understanding of social media, email marketing, content creation, and performance reporting.
  • Ability to manage several projects, deadlines, collaborators, and operational priorities simultaneously.
  • Commercial awareness and comfort working toward revenue and commission targets.
  • Ability to work independently while remaining aligned with the owner's direction.
  • Availability to work across HoAM's seven-day operation, including selected evenings and weekends.
  • Willingness to take ownership and contribute wherever needed.

Preferred

  • Existing relationships within fitness, sport, wellness, hospitality, health, performance, or corporate communities.
  • Experience working with athletes, coaches, trainers, sports organisations, gyms, wellness practitioners, or active-lifestyle brands.
  • Experience launching or growing a coffee house, hospitality venue, wellness concept, or lifestyle brand.
  • Strong visual judgment and familiarity with photography, video, graphic design, or content-production tools.
  • Confidence hosting events, welcoming collaborators, and engaging an audience.
  • Resourceful, proactive, collaborative, and comfortable working closely within an owner-led business.
  • Emotionally mature, receptive to feedback, and willing to have direct conversations.

Commission and Earnings

  • This is a commission-based role, with earnings linked to qualifying revenue generated through events, private bookings, partnerships, sponsorships, corporate wellness opportunities, and other agreed commercial activity.
  • Commission targets and qualifying opportunities will be agreed directly with the owner.
  • The commission percentage, eligible revenue, attribution rules, targets, payment schedule, cancellations, refunds, and shared leads will be documented before the role begins.
  • Both the owner and candidate will have access to a clear and transparent record of qualifying opportunities and earned commission.
  • Any uncertainty regarding lead ownership or commission entitlement should be raised and resolved openly before the relevant booking is confirmed.
  • Additional incentives may be offered for exceeding agreed monthly or quarterly targets.
  • The role provides an opportunity to work directly with the owner and help shape HoAM's long-term marketing, partnerships, programming, and community strategy.
